TransAct Introduces 10 Base-T Ethernet Interface For Its Ithaca® Brand Printers

April 14, 2004
TransAct Introduces 10 Base-T Ethernet Interface For Its Ithaca® Brand PrintersWallingford, CT, April 14, 2004 - TransAct Technologies Incorporated (Nasdaq: TACT), a leading producer of transaction-based printers for customers worldwide, today introduced the Company's new 10 Base-T Ethernet interface for the POS market. This is an additional option to the printer interfaces currently available on the Ithaca® iTherm™ 280, POSjet® 1000, POSjet® 1500 and BANKjet® 1500 printers.

With this new Ethernet interface the printer becomes IP addressable, allowing it to be a shared device on an Ethernet network. TransAct's Ethernet interface implementation provides a utility enabling users to conveniently use a web page to configure protocols, assign IP addresses, and update Ethernet firmware. TransAct also provides a driver to redirect an RS-232 serial communications port to an IP address, allowing users employing applications written for RS-232 serial to take advantage of Ethernet's benefits without requiring potentially expensive application changes.

Bart C. Shuldman, Chairman, President and CEO, said, "We are committed to providing the technology that our customers need. As the benefits of Ethernet connectivity become more widely adopted, we have provided our customers with a solution that is both user-friendly and cost effective."
